Fraud Alert: Phishing Emails Impersonating City Personnel

Published on May 18, 2026

The City has been made aware of phishing scams involving emails that falsely appear to come from City personnel. These emails may reference City projects, permits, applications, or recent public meetings and are designed to look official.

These scam emails may include:

  • Official-looking City seals or logos
  • Real project or permit information
  • Names and signatures of City personnel
  • Urgent requests for payment, often by wire transfer
  • Instructions stating that communication must occur only by email

Please be advised:

  • The City will never request payment through email or by wire transfer.
  • Official City payments should only be made through approved payment methods and official City processes.
  • Always verify suspicious requests by contacting the City directly using phone numbers or contact information listed on the official City website.
  • Carefully review sender email addresses. Scam emails often come from non-government email domains that may look similar to legitimate addresses.

If you receive a suspicious email claiming to be from the City, do not respond, click links, or open attachments.
