Staying Safe in an Emergency
On September 29, 2020, California enacted California Senate Bill 909 (CA SB 909) which authorizes emergency vehicles to be equipped with a “Hi-Lo” audible warning sound to be used solely for the purpose of notifying the public of an immediate need to evacuate. All public safety vehicle in Napa County are outfitted with “Hi-Lo” sirens, a different sound than traditional sirens. This European-style, 2-tone siren will only be used in an emergency to alert residents within specific areas of the need to evacuate. If you hear a Hi-Lo siren you should assume there is an immediate threat to your safety, and you should evacuate the area. You will be able find out what the threat is, what evacuations routes are available and receive relevant alerts at the links below.
