Sewer System Management Plan (SSMP)
The City of Calistoga’s Sewer System Management Plan (SSMP) supports the City’s overall mission to provide a safe, high-quality, and well-managed community while protecting the environment and ensuring long-term financial stability.
The Public Works Department oversees both the sewer collection system and the wastewater treatment plant, with key goals focused on reliable and efficient service.
Key Goals:
- Maintain a safe, clean, and reliable wastewater system for residents
- Preserve the city’s quality of life and environmental character
- Operate and maintain sewer infrastructure efficiently and responsibly
- Ensure the system has enough capacity to handle peak flows
- Reduce and prevent sewer spills and service disruptions
- Quickly repair, replace, and expand sewer and recycled water infrastructure when needed
- Provide effective wastewater treatment that protects the Napa River and supports reuse for irrigation
- Deliver services in a cost-effective and environmentally responsible way
